A wizard is a tool that supports the user in performing a defined task, by leading them through that task step by step. This tool limits the users decision-making freedom by only allowing them to enter a limited range of inputs and commands themselves. These guidelines illustrate several areas where wizards can be sensibly used to improve the usability of the SAP applications. They also introduce a tool for generating wizards, the Wizard Builder. By publishing this Wizard Style Guide and introducing the Wizard Builder, we hope to standardize the implementation of the SAP wizards throughout the system. Who Can Benefit from These Guidelines? These guidelines are intended both for developers who want to implement or improve a wizard and for other interested parties who are considering wizards as a potential design solution for their applications. What Cant These Guidelines Be Used For? When a wizard is used as a tutorial, you have to follow certain guidelines that are not explained in this style guide. The Wizard Builder is not suitable for tutorial purposes either. Functions such as Preview, which are important for a teaching tool, are not supported in the Wizard Builder.
