INSTALL GUIDE FOR
While NOTION Music works toward complete Vista-compatibility, we have enabled the latest program update,
PROTÉGÉ Updater 1.6.1, to allow PROTÉGÉ to run on the Windows Vista™ OS. Because of many different
aspects of the Vista operating system, some features of PROTÉGÉ may not work correctly. However, these issues
will be addressed as our testing continues.
The following steps are necessary because of the various security updates Microsoft applied in Windows Vista.
While Windows XP will allow you to install programs from your personal account (as long as you are an
administrator), Vista requires program installers to be run specifically with Administrator privileges.
Therefore, to install PROTÉGÉ properly on Windows Vista, please carefully follow these steps:
Please note: Click "Allow" whenever prompted by Windows for authorization to run an application during this process.
1) Go to "Start > Control Panel," and choose "Uninstall a Program" (or "Programs and Features" in Classic
View). If an installation of PROTÉGÉ already exists, uninstall
it from the hard drive.
2) Insert the PROTÉGÉ Installer DVD into your DVD/CD drive.
3) Do not auto-launch the installer. If it starts on its own, cancel the process and exit.
4) Create a folder on your desktop (right-click on the desktop, select "New… > Folder"), and give it any
name.
5) Explore the PROTÉGÉ disc by right-clicking on the "Computer" option in the Start Menu, and selecting
"Explore." Next, select your DVD/CD drive by clicking on it in the navigation tree (left). The discs
contents should appear in the window.
6) Copy all data and files from the disc to the folder you just created. When finished, remove the disc from
your DVD/CD drive.
7) Navigate to the folder, right-click on ProtegeInstaller_DVD.exe (red P logo), and select "Run as
Administrator ...
