He wants to keep plugging in his electricpowered Ford Ranger pickup truck but Ford Motor Co. says it's a nogo. It's the end of his lease and the company wants the vehicle back to scrap it. BernikoffRaboy who uses the truck for commuting and hauling supplies to his Catheys Valley ranch in Mariposa County said he does not want to give up his zeroemissions truck which uses no oil or gasoline. "It's a travesty for Ford to want to crush a perfectly working vehicle" he said. So for the past few days BernikoffRaboy can be found camping out at the Downtown Ford dealership on 16th Street in Sacramento. With the help of the San Franciscobased Rainforest Action Network and Global Exchange a human rights group BernikoffRaboy and a handful of supporters have been staging a protest at the site to force Ford Motor to allow these vehicles to be purchased rather than turned into scrap. Although none of the electric vehicles was purchased or leased from the Sacramento Ford dealership the site was chosen for its visibility said Sarah Connolly zero emissions campaigner with the Rainforest Action Network. Solar panels are providing energy to the small group's clutch of supplies including a laptop television a crockpot and cell phones. The aroundtheclock protest began Friday. Ray Enos owner of Downtown Ford had no comment on Monday.
