Installation Guide for Toshiba Satellite R10 & R15 Series Computers Page 1 of 5 Satellite R10 & R15.htm Installation Guide for Toshiba Satellite R10 & R15 Series Computers To replace your hard disk with your new CMS hard disk drive for your Toshiba Satellite R10 and R15 series computer follow these instructions. Note: Before performing the following procedures you should review the documentation that came with your computer and follow the safetyprecautions set forth therein. 1. Preserve your data If youve used the BounceBack Data Transfer software software to transfer your data from your original drive to your new drive youre ready to exchange your original and new drives. If you dont have BounceBack Data Transfer software you should backup your data using whatever method is best for you (ABS backup floppies tape network removable drive etc.). 2. Remove the old disk driveFollow these steps to remove and replace your old drive. (A) Make sure your computer is turned Off. Turn the computer over and keep the front of machine towards you. First you must locate and remove the drive retaining screw which should be located on the bottom or side of the notebook (figure 1). If it is not you should make sure your notebook hard drive is accessible before trying to upgrade your notebook. If you have difficulty locating your notebook hard drive refer to your notebook documentation for further assistance. Page 2 of 5 Satellite R10 & R15.htm (B) Pull the hard drive out of the computer by using the pull tab to remove the drive (figures 2a & 2b).(C) Once the drive is out of the drive bay use both hands to remove the attached ribbon cable. Take care not to bend the pins that the ribbon cable is attached to. (figure 3) Page 3 of 5 Satellite R10 & R15.htm (D) Now the drive bracket must be removed from the original drive.
