What are Radiator Hoses? The radiator is the primary coolant mechanism for your car engine. The radiator functions as a reservoir that stores engine coolant a mixture of antifreeze and water. It also receives the hot engine coolant from the engine, cools it, and sends it to back to cool your cars engine. The radiator hoses are responsible for circulating the coolant from the engine to the radiator and vice versa. The hoses consist of two hoses: input and output. The input hose receives the hot coolant from the engine and the outlet hose sends the cooled mixture back into the engine to cool it (see the illustration on the right).
