Many companiesare experiencing rapid growth oftheir SAP®production data. This growth can resultin: a breakdown in system performance; unnecessarilylong and error-prone backup and recoverywindows; storage thatisnotutilized optimally; retention management that ishindered; and more difficultversion upgrades. SAP providesa comprehensive setoftoolsfor data archiving called the Archive Development Kit (ADK). These toolsallow archived transactionsto be filtered from the SAP system, compressed, stored offline in an ADKfile, and then deleted from the online system.
