Inner cover This cover provides access to the inside of the printer when you're installing the ink cartridge or changing the DIP switches. Ink cartridge holder You install the ink cartridge on this yellow holder as described later in this chapter. Ink cartridge lock lever This lock lever secures the ink cartridge. Paper release lever This lever releases the loaded sheet of paper. You lift this lever to clear a paper jam. Leave the lever in the down position when you are printing. The ink cartridge you use with the printer is BC-01. Each ink cartridge contains enough ink to print about 400 to 500 pages (700,000 characters) in high quality mode (HQ) mode, and 800 to 1000 pages (1,400,000 characters) in economy mode. The actual amount varies according to the print density of the page. If you print a lot of graphics, you may need to change the cartridge more often. CAUTION: Canon makes two ink cartridges that would fit the printer; the BC-01 is designed specifically for the Bubble Jet Printer BJ-10sx.
